Suffragan Bishop
Bishop Mazwi Tisani was trained at St Peter’s College (FEDSEM, Alice) by the Community of the Resurrection (CR) from 1973 to 1975. He then spent another three years in the United Kingdom at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford where he obtained a Masters in Arts.
From 1981 to 1986 he taught (as Chaplain) at the New Fedsem (PMB, Natal). Thereafter he moved to Cape Town to be Chaplain to migrant workers and Rector of Athlone, Crawford.
In 1990 he became part of Bishopscourt as personal assistant to Archbishop Desmond Tutu and also Chaplain. He then moved on to Bisho in the Eastern Cape as Rector of Zwelitsha and Archdeacon of Kingwilliamstown until elected as Bishop Suffragan of Pretoria in 2002.
Bishop Mazwi enjoys reading and keeping physically fit.
To Bishop Mazwi it has been a wonderful experience, shared fully with his beloved wife, Zingisa for the last thirty years. God has blessed them with two sons, viz. Dumo and Sazi who are now both in the initial stages of their own professions.
